Grab the clip. Credit the creator.

ReactGrab is a free Windows app for reaction and commentary creators. Paste links from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, Reddit or Snapchat, press Download, and get MP4s that drop straight into Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or OBS, plus a list of who made each clip, ready to paste into your video description.

01 · GRAB

Paste the links, press Download

Paste one link or a whole list, one per line. ReactGrab tidies the list, then downloads each clip in turn, showing what happened to every one in the log in plain English.

  • Only need part of a video? Add a time range after its link, like 0:30-1:15, and ReactGrab keeps just that part, cut on the exact frame
  • Copied a link before opening ReactGrab? It offers to add it for you
  • Videos you've already downloaded are skipped, so a list can be pasted twice
  • Give each video you make its own project: its clips and credits get their own folder
  • Video quality: the best there is, or 1080p or 720p for smaller files
  • Notes with #, blank lines and repeats are skipped; a missing https:// is added
  • A short wait between downloads (3 seconds unless you change it) so the sites don't block you
  • A failed link is tried once more, then the log says why it failed and the next one starts
  • Cancel stops right away, even in the middle of a download, and tidies up after itself

02 · EDITOR-READY

Files your editor opens first time

Every clip is saved as an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, the formats Premiere, DaVinci Resolve and OBS all open without complaint. ReactGrab checks each file and only converts what needs it; a file that's already right is left untouched.

  • Picks the editor-friendly version of a video when the site offers one
  • Converts only the part that needs it, video or audio, and copies the rest
  • Files named creator - videoid.mp4, one per video, even from a post with several

03 · CREDITS

Crediting creators is copy and paste

Every download adds a line to credits.csv in your output folder: the date, the link, the platform, the creator's handle, the caption and the file name. It opens cleanly in Excel. Press Export credits list and ReactGrab turns it into one line per clip, saves it as credits.txt, and copies it to your clipboard.

  • The creator's real handle, not their display name
  • No repeats, in the order you downloaded
  • Paste straight into a YouTube, TikTok or Instagram description
# credits.txt, also on your clipboard

04 · PLAY FAIR

Made for commentary, not reposting

ReactGrab is for reviewing a clip before you make something original about it: a reaction, a review, a breakdown. The first time it starts it shows its terms, and you agree before anything downloads. They're short and in plain English: personal use, no re-uploading other people's videos, and keep the credit with the creator.

  • Works only with public videos you can already watch
  • Sites that want you signed in (often Instagram) can use the login from your own browser, if you tick the box
  • Not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or any creator

What's been tested

ReactGrab is new. Everything has automated tests; this is what has also been used for real, on Windows 11.

Used for real

  • Downloads from TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, saved as H.264/AAC MP4
  • Keeping part of a video, and skipping videos already downloaded
  • The credits list, cancel, retry and plain-English errors
  • The installer and Update Downloader

Known issue

  • ReactGrab isn't code-signed yet. Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" (click More info, then Run anyway), and on PCs with Smart App Control turned on, Windows can block the installer or the uninstaller. If the uninstaller is blocked, delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\ReactGrab and its shortcuts.

Not tested yet

  • X, Facebook, Reddit and Snapchat links on Windows (they work in ReactGrab for Android)
  • "Use my browser login" with each browser
  • Mac and Linux (they can run it from source; there's no installer for them)

06 · INSTALL

One file, nothing else to install

Download the installer and run it. It installs ReactGrab for your Windows account only, so there's no admin prompt, and everything it needs comes with it. Start menu and desktop shortcuts are added, and it uninstalls from Settings → Apps.

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Download about 25 MB
  • Your settings are kept when you update or reinstall
  • ReactGrab checks for a new version each time it opens and shows a button when there is one
  • When a site changes and downloads start failing, press Update Downloader in the app, or see Downloads failing?
  • Free for personal use

07 · TROUBLESHOOTING

Downloads failing?

TikTok, Instagram and YouTube change how their sites work all the time, and when they do, downloads can stop until ReactGrab catches up. Work down this list; the first step fixes most problems.

  1. Press Update Downloader at the bottom of ReactGrab, wait for it to say it's up to date, then close ReactGrab and open it again. Try the link once more.
  2. Open the link in your browser. If the video won't play there, it's private, removed or blocked in your country, and ReactGrab can't get it either.
  3. "Wants you signed in" (often Instagram). Sign in to the site in your browser, tick Use my browser login in ReactGrab, pick that browser, and try again.
  4. "Couldn't read your browser's login." Close that browser completely (Chrome and Edge lock their login file while they're open) or pick Firefox instead.
  5. "Blocking automated downloads" or lots of failures in a row. The site is limiting you. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, set Wait between downloads to 10 seconds or more, and download fewer links at a time. Ticking Use my browser login also helps.
  6. "Network problem." Check your internet connection. If you use a VPN, try with it off, or on a different server.
  7. Still stuck? Download and install the newest ReactGrab from this page; your settings are kept.

Problems with the app itself

  • Windows blocks the installer or uninstaller ("Windows protected your PC" or "blocked by your organization's Device Guard policy"). ReactGrab isn't code-signed yet. For the first, click More info, then Run anyway. If Smart App Control blocks the uninstaller, delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\ReactGrab and the ReactGrab shortcuts.
  • ReactGrab won't open. It saves the reason in %APPDATA%\ReactGrab\crash.log. Reinstalling usually fixes it.
  • A clip won't open in your editor. Make sure you have the newest ReactGrab; every file is checked and converted to H.264/AAC MP4 when it needs it.
# the log says… try
✗ can't read this page yet Update Downloader
✗ blocking automated downloads Update, wait, slow down
✗ wants you signed in Use my browser login
✗ couldn't read browser login close the browser
✗ private / removed nothing to fix
✗ network problem check your connection
ReactGrab Disclaimer and Terms of Use

ReactGrab is a personal-use tool. It is provided for downloading publicly available videos to your own computer for private viewing, research, commentary, criticism, and education, such as reviewing a clip before making an original reaction or commentary video.

By using ReactGrab, you agree to the following:

1. Personal use only. You will not use ReactGrab for commercial purposes, for resale or redistribution of downloaded content, or to build, mirror, or populate any archive, repository, or competing service.

2. No re-uploading. You will not re-upload, repost, or republish downloaded videos in whole or in large part, and you will not remove, crop out, or obscure creator names or other attribution. Any public use of a clip is your responsibility alone.

3. You are responsible for your use. Videos on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms are owned by their creators or licensors and are protected by copyright. Downloading or using a video may violate the platform's terms of service, copyright law, or the creator's rights, depending on what you do with it. Whether a particular use qualifies as fair use or fair dealing depends on the facts, varies by country, and is decided by courts, not by this tool.

4. Respect creators and platforms. Do not download content that is private, age-restricted, paywalled, or protected by access controls. Do not use ReactGrab to bypass DRM, paywalls, login requirements you are not entitled to, or any technical protection measure. Do not use it to harass, impersonate, or harm anyone, or to download content depicting people who have not consented to its use where the law requires consent.

5. No automated abuse. Do not use ReactGrab for bulk scraping or mass downloading. Keep the built-in delay between downloads and do not run it in a way that burdens the platforms' services.

6. Platform terms. Automated downloading may violate the terms of service of the platforms involved. Using ReactGrab may result in your IP address or account being blocked or restricted by those platforms. That risk is yours.

7. Takedowns. If a creator or rights holder asks you to stop using or delete their content, do so promptly.

8. No affiliation. ReactGrab is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TikTok, Instagram, Meta, YouTube, Google, or any content creator. All trademarks belong to their owners. ReactGrab uses the open-source yt-dlp project, which is covered by its own license.

9. No warranty. ReactGrab is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, reliability, or non-infringement. It may stop working at any time when platforms change.

10. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any claim, damages, loss, copyright strike, account termination, demonetization, legal action, or other consequence arising from your use of ReactGrab or from content you download or publish with it.

11. Not legal advice. Nothing in this software or its documentation is legal advice. If you are unsure whether a use of someone else's content is allowed, ask a qualified attorney or get written permission from the creator.

If you do not agree with these terms, do not use ReactGrab.
